August Update:
The summer has once again flown by...Fall is just around the corner and I am once again up at 3am... This summer has brought lots of changes in our lives...
I have personally lost a couple of good friends this summer, and am trying to renew my "Keep In Touch" attitude... Trying to relocate old friends is not as easy as it seems sometimes, but through losses comes a renewed sense of appreciation for each and every day!
Nick & Rose are now married - the wedding was absolutely wonderful! We are so proud of our son and new daughter! They are moving to Jacksonville until Nick is out of the Marines, then he will go to college to get an engineering degree and Rose will go back to Disney in Orlando. We pray for their happiness and love of life -and hope their life together will be full of joy, laughter and prosperity!
My sister Laura, got married to Michael Hill the following weekend in an "Ohio State" motif Wedding. It was so cool... out on a farm - reception in a huge barn (yes the cows were gone...) Jeremy and a friend of his did all the cooking... I saw several people I had not seen in MANY years, including my "other Mom" Jean Williams. She looked so good...
My dad's sister and brother and his wife came in for the wedding along with my cousin Steve and his wife Jean. I hadn't seen Aunt Jean and Uncle Berdell for YEARS and YEARS! It was great to see them. I pray for all of our family and friends- that Laura and Michael have a wonderful life together, that Jeremy finds the right paths in life and takes care of himself, learns to trust God and enjoys his new found career path...I pray for the old friends and family that I rarely get to see, and hope they find peace and love along their paths.
NOW, Jake has spent the summer with us this year, and even though the summer schedule did not go exactly as planned, we loved having him "Home" with us. I cannot tell you how much it meant to us (and especially to me) that he came down to Kentucky to spend his time with us. We miss him terribly now, but he is back at school soon at Michigan State, studying physiology. He is quite a strong "Man of God", a wonderful person, and a tremendous son! I am so proud of him... I pray for a good school year for him and for his new relationship- I know God will take care of him and guide him through the rest of his life.
Shelby is growing so fast- I can see more and more each day, that I WILL need to mount a shotgun by the front door... (haha) She is taking gymnastics, swimming, cheer leading... and of course she is beginning to take "rebellion 101" - Sometimes she acts like she is already 16... I fear that Jennifer and my hands will be full - I just pray that she follows in her brothers footstep and trust God, trusts her parents and trusts herself.
Jennifer is working so hard at the YMCA, trying to get the best programs and care for the kids in Jessamine County. I am so proud of her. She is working an awful lot and I know how much of a toll that can take. It can be very stressful... I pray God will watch out after her in her quest and guide her in the right directions.
We have finally gotten our "Cavalcade of Cars" switched out... The van went to my nephew Jeremy, sold the Pick-Up and traded in the GrandAm. Now back to 2 cars that are not as old as dirt... and hopefully repair bills will slow down!
We are trying to rebuild and recover from the financial fiasco in Ohio, and seems like we are being semi-successful. God has put people in our path to help us and we are slowly re-building. One of these people that has been put in our path, is working with us on housing. While the final details have not completely been worked out, it seems as if we may get to have our own home again in the future...
So, the pools are closed, school has started back (Shelby is now in 2nd grade), the weather will soon start cooling off again, and the leaves will begin to turn. Cold weather will arrive, some snow will fall (even down here), and we will celebrate the Birth of Christ. Before you know it 2009 will be here... The years are flying by quickly now...Sometimes I am apprehensive of the future... but I know God will get us through.
